Shuayb wisely counselled Moses and gave him safety, security, and the hand of one of his daughters, Zipporah, in marriage when he fled from Egypt after he murdered an Egyptian. When the time came for Moses to go on his epic journey back to Egypt to challenge Pharaoh ‘to let his people go,’ it seems that Zipporah and their two sons Gershom and Eliezer stayed with Shuayb while Moses announced the ten plagues God would send to persuade Pharaoh to release the 2. In Exodus chapters 19 and 20, Allah/God called Moses up to Mt Sinai to receive the 10 Commandments so his ‘captains’ could use them as guidance for justice for the Hebrew nation who had suffered 400 years in slavery.
